At Hero Certified Burgers giving back to the community is an important part of our company culture.
2011 was the 6th year that Hero Burgers sponsored the annual BAD RIDE for Toronto Distress Centres. This 165 km ride takes place each May starting in Markham and tours through the local communities. In 2011, the event attracted 1,300 riders and raised more than $175,000.
Since 1967 the Toronto Distress center has provided 24-hour telephone support, 365 days a year. 600 volunteers respond to approximately 120,000 calls each year, most of which are received after hours and on weekends when other services are closed. They provide support to those in need of emotional understanding, crisis intervention or suicide prevention. They also provide face to face counseling to grieving families dealing with a death due to homicide or suicide.
The most recent addition to their outreach program is a direct link suicide hot line from every subway platform in Toronto to Distress Centres! It is the only program of it's kind worldwide.
Hero Certified Burgers is proud to support this very special agency which offers vital emotional support to people in need.

Dear John and the Entire HERO Team,
On behalf of Distress Centres, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to you and your team for once again being a premier sponsor for the B.A.D. Ride (Bikers Against Despair). The magnitude of your support is a clear demonstration of your significant corporate philanthropic commitment. We are sincerely grateful for your help in ensuring that 100% of the funds donated by event participants can be directly applied to services for the vulnerable and at risk. You have truly made a difference to this community! Thank you.
